As a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Julie passed a rigorous and demanding series of three, six-hour examinations over three years. These examinations focused on investment tools and asset classes analysis, including: Quantitative Methods, Financial Reporting & Analysis, Equity Investments, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Portfolio Management, and Wealth Planning. Each exam included a core section on Ethics and Professional Standards.
Banking and Investment Experience
Julie brings a depth and breadth of financial and investment insight to navigating finances, developed from her career of more than 25 years in the banking and investment industries.
Julie has held key positions at Comerica Bank, Munder Capital Management, the Kresge Foundation (a $4.3 billion private, national foundation), and DeRoy & Devereaux, a registered investment advisor. Her disciplined and comprehensive approach to investing, carefully honed over 25 years, has focused on securing competitive long-term returns, optimizing asset allocation, and minimizing tax impacts.
Currently she is an Adjunct Professor in the Finance Department at the Wayne State University - Mike Ilitch School of Business, and the Director of the Student Managed Investment Fund Program.

Experienced Guidance for Foundations and Non-Profits
Julie Hollinshead maintains deep connections within the philanthropic and non-profit arenas, where she offers consulting services. In early 2022, she was retained by Michigan Women Forward, a community development finance organization dedicated to expanding female economic opportunity, to consult on credit training for micro-entrepreneurs. Prior to this engagement, Julie served as a Trustee and Chair of Michigan Women Forward’s Investment Committee.
Julie also is a Trustee for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and a member of its Investment Committee. In addition, she is a member of the Investment Committee for a large, private family foundation and, for nearly ten years, served in the same capacity for The Children’s Foundation.
Julie is a frequent guest speaker on investment and personal finance topics. She has participated in Wayne State University’s Professional Development Series for graduate students, speaking on market trends, investment opportunities, financial planning and money management. She’s also been the guest speaker at the Senior Men’s Club in Birmingham, Michigan.

Julie has a BA, cum laude, from Tufts University and an MA from the Johns Hopkins University.
She is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Detroit.
